Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday called a meeting with senior state officials to review the executive position of national healthcare projects.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and Head of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Authority Lt. Gen. Ahmed el-Shazly, and Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Maj. Gen. Ahme el-Azazy attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar reviewed the executive position of projects being carried out in the health sector, including the development of the Nasser Institute for Research and Treatment turning it into an integrated medical city, and establishing a new central laboratories complex in accordance with the highest global standards, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
Developing major hospitals, including Om Al-Masryeen, Heliopolis Hospital, the Coptic Hospital, was also considered during the meeting, spokesman Fahmy said.
Minister Abdel Ghaffar’s presentation also covered the executive position of setting up the new national institute (500500), and the plan for establishing a new heart institute, and a new and integrated complex for mental health, addiction treatment and geriatrics.
In addition, the meeting reviewed the latest developments of the presidential health initiatives over the past years and their positive effects on the health of citizens, topped with the100 Million Healthy Lives” aiming to eradicate Virus C and non-communicable diseases, in addition to other initiatives to support women’s health through the early detection of tumors, and as well as ‘ending waiting lists’.
President Sisi gave directives for carrying on with the ongoing efforts to improve the availability and quality of health services to people, the presidency spokesman said.
The President Sisi stressed that the health file is a top priority on the state agenda and is given great attention and intensive work to overcome the structural challenges facing it.
