Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for maintaining efforts to enhance the localization of industry and bolster the supportive environment for the national heavy industries sector, especially including the cement, iron and steel industries. Such industries, the President added, play an important role boosting the national economy in addition constituting basic contributors to the developmental process.
The President’s remarks came during his meeting he called Sunday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Presidential Assistant for National and Strategic Projects Sherif Ismail and a group of Cabinet ministers and top government officials, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
During the meeting, the President reviewed the most prominent challenges facing the cement and iron and steel sectors in Egypt especially regarding the production capacity, the structure of production and the costs of marketing.
Discussions at the meeting also covered the modalities and mechanisms of action to overcome these challenges by adopting an integrated industrial policy that guarantees the deepening of local manufacturing, enhancing competitiveness, removing related logistical obstacles and ensuring the availability of the necessary infrastructure
