Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday followed the ongoing efforts aiming to localise the manufacturing of production requirements in the field of metal industries.
Localising such industries was the topic of a meeting that President Sisi called on Sunday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
Also attending the meeting were Presidential Advisor for Financial Affairs Maj Gen Mohamed Amin, Head of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Authority Maj Gen Ahmed el-Shazli and the Board Chairman of Kandil Steel group, Amr Kandil.
In the course of discussions, President Sisi gave directives for boosting coordination with the private sector entities known for long experience, governance and distinguished production. Such coordination, the president noted, should aim at launching projects that target localising industries in a sustainable manner, which will benefit the state’s comprehensive plans on the long run, Spokesman Radi said.
In a presentation she made during the meeting, Minister Gamea reviewed the key executive steps of close relevance to supporting industrial activities and incentivising the industry at the national level, in coordination with the ministries and bodies concerned, Spokesman Radi said.
She also briefed the meeting on the coordination with Kandil Steel Group for boosting manufacturing processes to meet the needs of the local market in metal industries through pumping fresh investments.
At another meeting on Sunday with PM Madbouli, President Sisi followed up on the development of the unplanned areas in Greater Cairo, including the randomly-built and old zones, the presidency spokesman said.
During the meeting, the president called for expanding the scope of efforts to develop the unplanned areas, provide a decent and safe life for the residents of these areas, change their reality for the better and raise the level of all services provided to them, similar to the successful experiences that the state has accomplished in recent years.
These efforts, the president said, led to the provision of adequate housing for citizens as one of the basics of the state’s protection and care extended to citizens.
The president also urged intensifying efforts to develop the old historical districts in Cairo to highlight their role as a cultural, civilisational and tourist attraction centre, in harmony and integration with the efforts to expand the new urban communities that are being built nationwide.
In a third meeting on Sunday, President Sisi followed up on the executive position regarding the development of the sea port system nationwide, Spokesman Radi said.
Attending that third meeting were PM Madbouli, Transport Minister Kamel el-Wazir and Head of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Major General Ahmed el-Shazli.
The president gave directives to maintain efforts to develop the sea port system along the country’s coasts in accordance with the highest standards, to achieve the best investment of Egypt’s position and geographical location.
In this context, President Sisi urged that such efforts be carried out in integration with the axis of the Suez Canal as a link between the East and the West and in a way that allows for increased trade exchanges with various countries of the world.
The presidential directives followed a presentation by Minister el-Wazir in which he outlined the existing efforts to develop sea ports, especially the Alexandria port which comprises multi-purpose logistic areas, sea berths and modern storage warehouses. Works to develop Alexandria harbour also involved linking the facility to the main roads and axes, all the way to the international coastal road.
Minister Wazir’s presentation also included a review of the progress of action to develop both Ain Sokhna and Damietta harbours.
