CAIRO – President Abdel Fattah ElSisi received Saturday United Arab Emirates Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahayan who arrived in Cairo on an official visit.
The president welcomed the UAE crown prince, congratulated him on the Islamic month of Ramadan and highlighted Egypt’s and its people’s appreciation of his country in the light of historical bonds between the two countries, Presidency Spokesman, Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
The president also underscored the strength of the strategic alliance between Egypt and the UAE, he added.
President Sisi said Egypt is keen on enhancing co-operation with the UAE in all fields.
Egypt, he added, is also keen on intensifying meetings with senior UAE officials on a regular basis to closely coordinate positions on fast-paced developments in the Middle East and to further boost joint Arab and Islamic action in the face of different regional challenges.
Eyeing stronger ties
Crown Prince Bin Zayed, for his part, expressed his best wishes for Egypt and its people.
He said his current visit to Cairo comes within the framework of close and distinguished relations between Egypt and the UAE at the government and people levels.
The two countries are bound together with the same fate, Crown Prince bin Zayed said.
He added that his visit also aims to strengthen cooperation with Egypt at all levels.
Crown Prince bin Zayed also praised the pivotal role Egypt plays in the region, describing it as a “cornerstone” of regional stability and security.
He also commended strides in relations between Cairo and Abu Dhabi in all political; economic; security, and military fields as well as the noticeable growth in trade exchange and the exchange of investments between the two countries.
Both countries are keen on moving ahead with strengthening their relations, Crown Prince bin Zayed said.
Close coordination
Ambassador Radi said President Sisi and Crown Prince bin Zayed discussed joint cooperation.
They said they were contented with the level of cooperation and coordination between their two countries, Ambassador Radi said.
They also highlighted the importance of pushing this cooperation and coordination even more forward to serve the best interests of the peoples of Egypt and the UAE in the economic and investment fields, he added.
Regional scene
President Sisi and Crown Prince bin Zayed discussed a wide range of regional issues as well as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD)
Talks between the president and the UAE crown prince reflected mutual understanding on the aforementioned issues, Ambassador Radi said.
He added that President Sisi and Crown Prince bin Zayed agreed to maintain joint efforts to reach political settlements to current crises in some of the countries of the region on the road to rebuilding their national institutions and formulating a comprehensive vision for the advancement of joint Arab action.
This should be done in a way that enhances Arab capabilities in the face of the challenges facing the region and growing challenges to regional security, Ambassador Radi said.
He added that the president and Crown Prince bin Zayed also agreed to bolster Egyptian-UAE cooperation as a prerequisite of the protection of Arab security.
They also vowed to stand against foreign interference in the affairs of regional states, Ambassador Radi said, noting that they blamed this interference for stoking tensions, conflicts and terrorist activities in the region.
President Sisi said Egypt is committed to working for the protection of the security of the Gulf and rejecting practices that aiming at destabilizing this region, Ambassador Radi said.
