Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his US counterpart Joe Biden have stressed the importance of working against the expansion of conflict in the Middle East.
Earlier Monday, Sisi received a phone call from Biden, in which they underscored the importance of the two-state solution, seeing in it one way to achieve peace, security and stability in the region, said presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.
The telephone conversation focused on the latest developments in negotiations and Egyptian efforts to reach a truce in Gaza that would lead to a ceasefire and an exchange of hostages, Fahmy added.
Sisi and Biden also underlined the risk of a military operation in Palestinian Rafah and its catastrophic humanitarian results in the besieged enclave, the spokesman further said.
Fahmy added that Sisi pressed for action to guarantee complete and full delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The two leaders also agreed to continue joint action to boost cooperation at all levels, he note.
