Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has bestowed the “Medal of Science of First Class” on Former Grand Mufti of Egypt Shawki Allam for his efforts in serving religion and homeland and in recognition of his pivotal role in renewing religious discourse, spreading true teachings of Islam and tolerance and moderation values.
During Celebration of El Mawlid El Nabawi held by the Awqaf Ministry to mark Prophet Muhammad’s birthday anniversary at Al Manara International Conference Center (AMICC) on Monday, Allam thanked president Sisi for the award, saying this good gesture reflected great care the president was attaching to science and scientists and his pivotal role in promoting the prestige of religious institutions in the country.
This honor is bestowed on each scholar that is seeking to spread the true message of Islam and its values of mercy, justice and peace, said Allam.
Since assuming his post, the president has been keen on promoting all efforts aimed at boosting the true teachings of Islam and confronting extremist thought and ideologies, he added.
The president’s constant directives have mainly contributed to renewing religious discourse and enhancing tolerance and co-existence culture among peoples of one homeland, Allam said.
