Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Wednesday CEOs of a number of Belgian companies; including Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering (DEME), Antwerp Port Services Company and Fluxys company.
Commander of Strategic Command Ahmed Khaled and Egyptian Ambassador in Brussels Badr Abdel Aati attended the meeting along with a number of officials of the aforementioned companies, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.
The talks tackled means of enhancing cooperation in producing green hydrogen for generating energy.
Sisi underlined that the Egyptian national strategy aims at promoting the use of alternative fuel and moving towards clean energy, while concentrating on producing green hydrogen in collaboration with foreign partners and in line with Egypt Vision 2030 for Sustainable Development.
Sisi voiced hope that Belgian companies operating in Egypt would be an international partner in magnifying the state’s efforts to diversify energy resources, training cadres and encouraging local industry.
For their part, members of the Belgian companies said they were honoured to meet with President Sisi, hailing Egypt’s efforts to lure direct foreign investments in new and renewable energy domain.
They referred to the investment incentives offered by the Egyptian government to boost green hydrogen production.
They expressed interest in cooperation with Egypt in this domain within the framework of commitment to international goals to protect the environment and combat global warming.
