President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has asserted that protecting Arab national security was the basis for preserving the rights of peoples especially through extended national relations and bridges of communication between all Arab nations.
The president said, during his meeting with Speaker of the Arab Parliament and member of the Bahraini Parliament Adel Al-Asoumi in Cairo Wednesday, that targeting national states leads to disintegration, destruction and violation of the basic rights of the peoples, and future generations that are affected by the harsh conditions of insecurity and instability, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
Mr Al-Asoumi awarded President Sisi the Leader Medal, the highest decoration granted by the Arab Parliament to Kings and Heads of State, in appreciation of his tireless efforts to serve all issues of the Arab nation, the latest of which was reaching the ceasefire agreement between the Palestinians and Israelis, Radi added.
The award is also in appreciation of President Sisi’s efforts at the level of the development and construction process in Egypt, which made unprecedented achievements covering all aspects of life and presenting Egypt to the world as a model for Arab development under the leadership of President Sisi.
The president, meanwhile, expressed his appreciation to the Arab Parliament for granting him this medal, revealing his pride of the efforts exerted by the Arab Parliament as a platform for dialogue and democracy and as a popular impetus for the Arab action and an effective partner in serving the higher interests of the Arab nation.
The president also emphasised Egypt’s support for the efforts of the Arab Parliament to achieve its goals, adding that he was looking forward to discussing prospects for strengthening co-operation with the Arab Parliament to serve common Arab issues.
President Sisi also underscored the important role of the Arab Observatory for Human Rights in formulating the Arab approach and vision towards human rights issues in their comprehensive and deep sense, through its contacts with various human rights organisations around the world to explain the Arab viewpoint in this regard.
The president added that the Observatory was a supportive element for the relevant Arab stance through the adoption of advanced cultural thought, stressing that maintaining Arab national security was an essential pillar for preserving human rights through extended national relations and bridges of communication between Arab countries.
He noted that any infringement upon the national states leads to disintegration, destruction and violation of the basic human rights of peoples. It also has a negative impact on future generations that are affected by the harsh conditions of insecurity and instability, he added.
For his part, Mr Al-Asoumi praised the role of Egypt, under the leadership of President Sisi, in maintaining Arab national security as well as advancing joint Arab action at various levels, including the Arab Parliament.
He also highlighted Egypt’s pioneering parliamentary expertise in addition to its hosting of the meetings of the Arab Parliament, which reflects the extent of belief in its effective role as one of the basic Arab mechanisms for communicating with peoples and taking effective positions in order to safeguard the interests of Arab countries.
