BEIJING – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted the need to stop war in Gaza, warning against the high risk of the Israeli military operations in Palestinian Rafah at the humanitarian, security and political levels.
This came during Sisi’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing as part of his visit to China.
The Chinese president received President Sisi and the national anthems of both countries were played, presidential spokesman said.
Both president held talks on boosting bilateral ties coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Egyptian-Chinese comprehensive strategic partnership, the spokesman added.
A joint statement was issued detailing the fields of co-operation and coordination in the coming stage including the declaration of “Egyptian-Chinese partnership” year which will witness several activities of diplomatic, economic and cultural co-operation, he added.
The talks tackled the visions of both countries on the latest regional and international developments, he said.
Xi lauded Egypt’s pivotal role and its efforts to ease the situation and allow aid supplies to the Palestinians, he said, adding that both presidents agreed on the necessity of reaching an immediate ceasefire and rejection of the forced displacement of the Palestinians.
They also tackled the situation in Africa and means to boost cooperation to support developmental efforts in the continent.
