CAIRO- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi Saturday underscored the significance of serious action by the international community to reach a comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian issue and recognize the independent Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Al Quds as its capital, in a way that achieves justice and ensures permanent security and stability in the region.
The president made the remarks while receiving Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon and Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs João Gomes Cravinh, in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
The Slovenian and Portuguese sides welcomed the humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip and hailed Egypt’s leading role at the strategic, political and humanitarian levels since the eruption of the crisis on October 7, according to Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.
The Egyptian role was crowned by its joint mediation to reach a pause and allow the exchange of hostages and detainees, the Slovenian and Portuguese top officials said, expressing appreciation for Egypt’s role in securing the evacuation of foreign nationals from the enclave.
President Sisi and the foreign ministers reached a consensus on the necessity of upholding the truce, reaching a permanent ceasefire alongside providing immediate and effective support for the humanitarian relief efforts in the strip as the people of Gaza have been deprived of their livelihoods and security.
They also agreed on total rejection of the displacement of the people of Gaza from their lands.
Meanwhile, President Sisi expressed appreciation for the stances of Portugal and Slovenia regarding the conflict, pointing out to Slovenia’s non-permanent membership in the Security Council for the years 2024/2025.
He stressed the need for the international community to take an action to reach a comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue, and recognize the independent Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Al Quds as its capital.
