ANKARA – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived in Ankara, Türkiye, Wednesday on an official visit, his first to the country since he assumed office in 2014.
During his stay, Sisi is scheduled to hold talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which will be followed by an expanded session grouping delegates from both sides.
Sisi and Erdogan will attend the first meeting of a high-level strategic cooperation council, which was reshaped during the Turkish president’s visit to Egypt on February 14.
The council will review steps to be taken in the coming stage to enhance bilateral cooperation. Participants will also exchange views regarding regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly the Israeli attacks on Gaza and the occupied Palestinian lands.
Both sides will also ink a number of agreements and memos meant to enhance ties between Cairo and Ankara.
