Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi signed Law no 17 of 2022 on amendments of some provisions of Law no 106 of 1973 on cotton and abolishing Law no 212 of 1959 on the fund for improving Egypt’s cotton nationwide.
Sisi signed Law no 18 of 2022 of the state’s general planning.
Under the law, long and medium-term sustainable development plans will be prepared as well as the general plan for social and economic development, while taking into account sustainability standards.
Sisi has signed law No.19 of 2022 issuing a law to establish a fund for supporting tourism and antiquities.
President Sisi has signed Law No. 23 of 2022 with regard to the period of regularising the status of those doing civil work as per Law No. 149 of 2019.
Under the amendment, all civil associations and institutions, non-governmental regional and foreign unions and organisations, as well as entities that do civil work shall regularize their statuses within a period not exceeding six months from the date of enforcing this law.
The amendment stipulates that the deadline shall be extended for one similar period by a decision from the minister tasked with civil societies and civil work affairs.
Sisi has signed Law No. 22 of 2022 amending some provisions of Law No. 82 of 2016 on combating illegal migration and the smuggling of migrants.
Under the amendments, tougher penalties shall be imposed on whoever commits, initiates, or mediates in the crime of smuggling migrants.
