CAIRO – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi made a tour on Friday of a number of infrastructure and road projects in different parts of Cairo to appraise progress on these projects.
The president’s tour took him to the new road axis parallel to the Cairo-Suez Road.
This road axis will connect the First Settlement with Cairo Airport through a new mass transit station, Presidency Spokesman, Ambassador Bassam Radi, said.
He added that the same road axis would connect the aforementioned areas with Sheraton neighbourhood in the northeastern part of Cairo and the Thunderbolt Road.
The new road axis will provide a new traffic artery that links neighbourhoods and areas in eastern Cairo with communities in New Cairo, Ambassador Radi said.
This will relieve pressure on the Cairo-Suez Road, especially near Al-Amal City, he added.
He noted that the new axis would also help facilitate travel and cut short the travel time for citizens in these areas.
President Sisi also toured expansion works being made on the Ring Road in eastern Cairo.
The works aim to raise the efficiency of the road, Ambassador Radi said.
The president especially inspected the work being done on the road near Khusus City, north of Cairo.
During his tour, the president listened to an explanation from executive engineers about progress on the development of Ain Shams, a sprawling suburb in the northeastern part of Cairo.
The president highlighted the importance of abiding by quality standards, given the importance of the roads being constructed for the facilitation of traffic through Greater Cairo and the cities and urban communities in its geographical surroundings, Ambassador Radi said.
He added that the president stopped during his tour to exchange greetings and talk with a number of citizens who happened to be present.
Some of the citizens chatting with the president submitted some demands, the presidency spokesman said.
