Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received the CEO of the US Apache Corporation John Christmann, and his two deputies on Wednesday. Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el-Molla attended the meeting.
The meeting followed up Apache’s activities and ongoing programmes, in Egypt, in addition to future plans to boost its operations in research, exploration and production of oil and gas, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
President Sisi lauded the company’s distinguished successes over three decades of engagement in Egypt, which made of it the largest oil producer in the country, Fahmy said.
The president also emphasized Egypt’s keenness to provide a favourable atmosphere to attract more investments to all sectors, particularly oil and gas.
For his part, Apache CEO Christmann highly appreciated the experience of positive co-operation with Egypt over the past decades, referring to this as a story of success and an example to be followed in the Middle East region, Spokesman Fahmy said.
Christmann also stressed Apache’s commitment to the well-established partnership with Egypt, in light of the available promising opportunities for fresh discoveries, which encourage the company to double efforts to increase production rates over the coming period, Fahmy said.
In addition, Christman reviewed Apache’s role in serving the Egyptian community in various fields, as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility.
In the meantime, the meeting touched upon means to advance economic cooperation between Egypt and the US, in light of the fact that Christman is chairman of the Egyptian-US Business Council, and the multifold ties of strategic partnerships between the two countries.
