SHARM EL SHEIKH – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi forwarded a message to women in the world on the sidelines of launching Women Day within activities of COP27 Monday.
“African women are a key partner in achieving sustainable development and overcoming climate change repercussions,” President Sisi said in the message.
In an address delivered on his behalf by Environment Minister, Ministerial Coordinator and COP27 Envoy Yasmine Fouad, President Sisi said women worldwide were very strong and wise in facing coronavirus crisis over the past three years.
“Now we depend on you (women) to maintain your great role out of belief that women will remain an icon of change to attain historical transition toward overcoming climate change repercussions,” President Sisi added.
Genuine progress can only be achieved on the ground by realizing climate justice to all with the objecting of fully integrating women into different cooperation aspects to face climate changes, said the president.
In turn, Fouad affirmed women leaderships in Egypt support nationally determined contributions (NDCs) action plans 2030.
She warned climate change phenomenon is causing more violence against women in societies.
She underscored the importance of supporting social gender issue and climate by all in order to empower women and help them change face of climate for the better.
The session on women came up with three important recommendations; the necessity of integrating women in education, presence of more women in science, climate conferences and support for women’s health and nutrition in general.
