Lauder praises Egypt’s role as pillar of stability in ME
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed the depth of the strategic relations between Egypt and the United States, which are of great importance in the light of the crises threatening the security and stability of the entire region.
That necessitated more co-operation and regular consultations between Egypt and the United States to ward off these dangers, especially in the context of combating terrorism and extremist ideology in order to achieve security and stability in the region, he added.
The president’s remarks came during his meeting Wednesday with President of the World Jewish Congress, Ronald Lauder, in the presence of head of the Egyptian Intelligence Service, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
President Sisi also stressed the importance of working to resume negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis with a view to finding a just and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian cause in accordance with the international terms of reference.
President Sisi referred in this regard to the relentless Egyptian efforts to achieve Palestinian reconciliation and to stabilise calm in the Gaza Strip with a view to preserving the security and stability of the Palestinian people and improving humanitarian, living and economic conditions in the Strip.
For his part, Lauder praised the strong relations between Egypt and the United States, expressing appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role as a pillar of security and stability in the Middle East and the African continent.
He also highlighted Egypt’s efforts to address the threat of terrorism and its tireless endeavours to reach solutions to various crises in the region.
He also lauded Egypt’s achievements in terms of economic reform and advancing the comprehensive development process, which entrenches Egypt’s historic role at various levels in the region, he added.
