Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS) Diaa Rashwan has announced a significant new initiative to enhance the working environment for foreign media correspondents operating within Egypt.
Following the ongoing directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Service aims to broaden the professional scope and movement of international journalists. This strategy is designed to ensure that correspondents have seamless access to documented, official information, allowing them to gain firsthand insight into the diverse developments and systemic changes currently shaping Egypt.
By facilitating this level of openness, the SIS seeks to ensure the global community receives an objective and accurate representation of both domestic progress and Egypt’s strategic foreign policy activities.
In direct implementation of these presidential directives, the SIS has consistently organized the participation of hundreds of correspondents in high-level events, specifically those attended by the President, alongside various press conferences with senior officials.
Building on this foundation, the SIS has decided that, starting in 2026, these interactions will transition into a regular and expanded monthly forum titled “Meet the Foreign Media.”
These gatherings will feature a rotating schedule of government ministers and senior specialists who will engage in open, direct, and public dialogues with any interested foreign media representatives, providing comprehensive facts regarding the nation’s current trajectory across all sectors.
The inaugural session of this monthly series is scheduled for mid-January 2026 and will feature Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Badr Abdel-Aty.
During this expanded meeting, the Minister will outline the fundamental constants and proactive initiatives that define Egypt’s foreign policy on the world stage.
The session will focus heavily on Egypt’s official positions regarding pressing regional and international issues, and the Minister will provide detailed responses to all inquiries raised by the foreign press corps based in Egypt.
