The Board of Directors of the State Information Service (SIS) held its first meeting following its recent formation by presidential decree.
The board expressed its profound gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his continued support of the SIS and its mission as a national institution responsible for Egypt’s media outreach domestically and internationally.
In an official statement, the SIS Board of Directors, chaired by journalist Diaa Rashwan, reaffirmed its appreciation for the President’s decision to form the new board, which it said reflects confidence in the SIS’s vital role in communicating an accurate and positive image of Egypt to international audiences.
The board commended the SIS’s ongoing efforts to counter misinformation and hostile propaganda, and to correct false narratives about Egypt.
It also praised the SIS’s function as an information centre that provides state institutions with comprehensive reports on foreign media coverage related to Egypt.
The statement further highlighted the SIS’s initiatives to launch multilingual websites and digital platforms that communicate Egypt’s policies and positions to the global public, in addition to its active role in community awareness programmes through its network of domestic information centres.
During the meeting, Diaa Rashwan delivered a detailed presentation to the board members outlining the current SIS activities, publications, organisational structure, and staffing.
He noted that the new board formation enriches the institution with a distinguished group of experts and specialists in its field, as appointed by the President.
The meeting took place at the SIS headquarters in Nasr City under the chairmanship of Diaa Rashwan, and was attended by board members Tharwat El-Badawi, Mohamed Fayez Farahat, Nevine Omar, Mohamed Abdel Hamid Fahmy, and Abdel-Moati Abou Zeid.
