A group of Sinai women showcased their hand-made products in a cultural exhibition held on the sidelines of the World Youth Forum on Monday.
The exhibition was held as President Abdel Fattah El Sisi opened the forum with the participation of world-class speakers and participants from across the world.
Zeinab el-Abadi, one of the exhibitors, said that the forum is a great opportunity for her to present her products that reflect the culture of the Sinai.
“It is great to show people, especially those coming from other cities in Egypt and from other countries with our culture and traditions,” she told The Egyptian Gazette.
Sinai costumes, hand-made wooden products and pottery popular in the Sinai were among the top displayed items.
The exhibitors said that the exhibition is an opportunity for globalisation and exchanging expertise.
Eman el-Husseini, another Sinai exhibitor, said that hand-made crafts in Sinai do not usually get to have opportunities like these.
“But exhibiting at the World Youth Forum not only benefits us but also shows that the Egyptian leadership is paying more attention now to people from the Sinai, especially women,” she added.
“Thousands of people of several nationalities will see my work and I will communicate with them and get to know their culture. This is really wonderful,” el-Husseini added.
