Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had a phone call with his South Korean counterpart Cho Tae-yul on means of promoting bilateral ties as well as the humanitarian and security developments in the Gaza Strip.
Shoukry congratulated the Korean official for assuming his new post, voicing hope to work together to boost bilateral ties.
The two ministers underlined keenness on enhancing bilateral cooperation in top priority sectors for both countries, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
The ministers discussed bolstering economic and investment cooperation.
Shoukry underlined Egypt’s keenness on luring more Korean investments.
Shoukry was also keen to congratulate South Korea for winning the 2024-2025 non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council, lauding cooperation between the two sides within the framework of the United Nations.
Shoukry expressed interest in continued coordination vis-a-vis Arab and African issues at the top of the UNSC agenda.
The spokesman also said that the talks tackled the latest security and humanitarian developments in the Gaza Strip and the international moves to end the war in Gaza.
Shoukry lauded South Korea’s stand for voting for the last Arab resolution at the UNSC in addition to its continued financing of UNRWA and offering support for international relief efforts.
Meanwhile, the Korean minister lauded the painstaking Egyptian efforts to halt the war in the Gaza Strip and promote aid access to the Gaza Strip.
He underlined his country’s continued efforts to restore peace and stability in the Middle East and stop the Gaza conflict spinning out of control.
