Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Tuesday left for the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro to participate in the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, set for Wednesday and Thursday.
In statements on Tuesday, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said Shoukry’s participation in the meeting comes in response to an invitation by Brazil’s G20 presidency to Egypt to attend the group’s meetings during the current year.
This is Egypt’s fourth participation in the meetings, as it previously participated three times as a guest in the group’s meetings in 2016, 2019, and 2023.
During a working session, Shoukry is scheduled to talk about the role played by the G20 in addressing international crises, he said. He will also participate in a session of global governance reform, he added.
Shoukry will also hold several bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of the G20 member states and countries participating in the meetings, the spokesman said.
