Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation with Equatorial Guinea through establishing a parliamentary friendship committee, voicing hope for continuing work to bolster bilateral cooperation in fields of interests to both countries.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Shourky’s remarks were made during his meeting on Tuesday with Speaker of Equatorial Guinea Senate Teresa Efua Asangono to discuss means of boosting bilateral relations and exchange of visions regarding various regional and international issues, in addition to crises facing the African continent.
Shoukry extended thanks to the Guinean side over its support to mutual coordination in international fora, as well as backing Egypt’s nominations for regional and international positions.
He also underlined the importance of implementing proposals of cooperation between the two sides, especially establishing a diplomatic academy drawing on Egypt’s expertise, operating a direct flight between the two countries and implementing joint ventures in the agricultural domains by Egyptian companies.
The Guinean speaker, for her part, voiced happiness over visiting Egypt and welcomed the hospitality she received in Cairo, praising Egypt’s expertise in the parliamentary field especially the Egyptian Senate.
She also underlined the importance of exchanging visits to enhance parliamentary cooperation, commending the progress of mutual relations between the two countries in the various fields.
