Egyptian ‏Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawki has shed light on the role played by the United Nations in boosting Egypt’s education sector.

‏The minister’s statements came as he met with Resident Coordinator of the United Nations (UN) in Cairo Elena Banova and international advisor Antonio Vigilante to discuss co-operation between Egypt and the UN in implementing the “Decent Life” presidential initiative, which aims at developing rural areas.

‏He said the number of educational projects included in the initiative is estimated at 1,113 projects providing 15,000 classes, a matter that would reduce the high number of pupils inside the classrooms.

‏Vigilante, for his part, hailed partnerships between the Egyptian government and the UN body and hailed efforts exerted by the government to develop education in Egypt.
