CAIRO – Egyptian Local Development Minister Mahmoud Shaarawi met Monday with South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda to follow up on the latest preparations for the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the UN Framework Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC), to be hosted by Egypt in Sharm el-Sheikh in November.

Shaarawi asserted the Egyptian state is keen on making all required arrangements for receiving Egypt’s guests in Sharm el Sheikh city and developing the main structure of the Red Sea resort.

Shaarawi discussed with the governor implementation rates of a number of ongoing projects in the various sectors of roads, bridges and squares and the construction of a central park in Sharm el-Sheikh.

The minister directed to accelerate the pace of carrying out the projects as per planned schedules.

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli is following the provision of all necessary support for COP27 through the higher committee concerned with arranging for the conference, which includes all ministries and national bodies in the state, according to him.

Shaarawi underscored the necessity of fulfilling all current projects aimed at turning Sharm el Sheikh into a green and eco-friendly city.

For his part, Fouda said he is always reviewing the latest developments of carrying out the current projects in the different sectors to prepare Sharm el-Sheikh for playing host to the climate gathering.
