Serbian Tourist Week is slated for October this year. The venue for this tourism promotion event will be the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, South Sinai.
South Sinai Governor Khaled Foud decided on the event during a meeting he chaired earlier this week.
The President of King Salman International University, leading businessmen and investors and senior officials of the governorate were present at the meeting.
Political, tourist, media, and religious dignitaries in Serbia will be receiving invitations to Serbian Tourist Week.
This comes as part of efforts to diversify tourist markets and activate a series of co-operation protocols with Serbia.
One of the protocols is a fraternity agreement between Sharm el-Sheikh and the Serbian city of Nis.
Late November last year, Fouda led a high-profile business delegation to Serbia to discuss with senior officials how to revitalise tourism between the two countries and increase the number of flights to the Egyptian airports.
During the visit, the governor called for streamlining visa procedures for Egyptians.
During a third meeting with high-ranking Serbian transport officials, Fouda discussed direct flights from Belgrade to Sharm el-Sheikh.
During Fouda’s visit, it was agreed to name a square in the Serbian city of Nis after Sharm el-Sheikh.
Flights between Sharm el-Sheikh and Nis now operate alongside the Belgrade-Hurghada route.
