See Cairo from top of Tower 1 - Egyptian Gazette

If Paris has the Eiffel Tower, and Italy attracts tourists with the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Egypt also has the Cairo Tower, which is in the middle of the two branches of the Nile, and it was designed to be unique.

The Cairo Tower is an architectural masterpiece, built in the shape of the Ancient Egyptian lotus flower, a symbol of the ancient civilization. It attracts thousands of tourists from around the world every year.

While on the top, you can enjoy the breathtaking Nile view and see many areas in Cairo.

The Tower was established during the era of President Gamal Abdel Nasser between the years 1956 and 1961 of reinforced concrete, and is located in the heart of Cairo on the island of Zamalek in the Nile River, and its height reaches 187 meters, which makes it the highest building in the capital.

It consists of 16 floors, and stands on a base of Aswan granite stones, which were previously used by the ancient Egyptians in building their temples, and at its top there is a tourist restaurant on a rotating platform, which rotate slowly allowing you to see Cairo from different directions. There is also a cafe in the Tower where you can have a drink or coffee.

If you don’t want to eat or drink in the Tower then we recommend that you find a nearby local fatatry (pie) restaurant. Pies in Egypt is different. It is called feteer (layered pastry) and it is a combination of pizza and pancake. It is a lot yummier than pizza and even more delicious than pancakes; it is a fluffy dough pastry that we “load” with several ingredients – sweet and savory. You can eat it with vegetables like green pepper, tomato, olive and mushrooms, add meat or chicken or even have it with icing sugar or chocolate and fruits.
