Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) chairman Waleed Gamal Eddin on Thursday met with Mayor of Tianjin Zhang Gong during a promotional tour in several Chinese provinces.
“We are happy about this visit as it is an important step to enhance co-operation with Tianjin in general and TEDA in particular. We are also thankful for the facilities provided to create a good investment environment for companies operating within the scope of the TEDA- Egypt in SCZone,” Gamal Eddin said.
Established in 2018, the China-Egypt TEDA is a main joint platform for co-operation between Egypt and China that connects projects of the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative with the development strategy of the Suez Canal Corridor Area Project in Egypt.
Gamal Eddin expressed his keenness for further co-operation between the port of Tianjin and SCZone port shipping and logistics services.
He also spoke of the possibility of establishing technical education centres, as Tianjin has 21 workshops equipped to teach a variety of skills.
“We appreciate the depth of relations between Egypt and China. We chose Tianjin as a second stop for the tour in China due to the importance of Tianjin as an industrial partner for the SCZone.
“The principles of integration pursued by zone ports and their affiliated industrial zones will benefit partnership with the port of Tianjin,” Gamal Eddin said.
“SCZONE will take advantage of the partnership with TEDA and the city of Tianjin to expand in various industrial fields such as petrochemicals. It is also possible to co-operate in launching a platform for export to neighbouring markets, taking advantage of the great successes achieved by TEDA as a partner of SCZone,” Gamal Eddin said.
“We are proud to announce the signing of a new protocol for the establishment of a technical training centre in co-operation with China next week to provide skilled manpower,” he said.
