Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Walid Gamal El-Din and chairman of China’s Gold Star Fashion Ltd. Han ShiQin signed on Monday a contract to set up a project for manufacturing superior quality garments at very competitive prices.
In a statement, the authority said that the total investment cost of the project amounted to dlrs 4.5 million. The project will span over an area of 23,000 m² in the Qantara West Industrial Zone, create 2,000 jobs.
According to the statement, 100% of the total production will be exported to foreign markets.
The chairman of SCZONE said over the past 20 months, Qantara West Industrial Zone has successfully established itself as the new global destination for the textile and ready-made garment industry. So far, it has attracted 15 projects.
He added these achievements reflect the success of SCZONE’s promotional strategy in attracting investments and achieving sustainable industrial development by creating integrated industrial complexes.
This project is a significant addition to Qantara West Industrial Zone, demonstrating its attractiveness to foreign investors, particularly in the ready-made garment sector, he said.
SCZone is committed to fostering a favorable investment environment by offering all necessary facilities to investors, thereby supporting the national economy and increasing job opportunities, he added.
He further noted that this project alone will create 2,000 new jobs, with its entire production exported to global markets. This aligns with SCZONE’s vision to enhance exports and increase the added value of local industries, he said.
Han ShiQin said “Gold Star Fashion has launched the ambitious GT Fashion Egypt project in Qantara West Industrial Zone, as part of its global expansion strategy. As a vertically integrated company, Gold Star Fashion covers design, production, and export, enabling it to serve key markets in China, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.”
He added that this project not only underscores Gold Star Fashion’s commitment to expanding its global footprint but also reflects its dedication to supporting economic development and creating job opportunities in the communities where it operates.
GT Fashion Egypt is expected to become a major hub for the company’s operations in Africa and the Middle East, strengthening its position as a leading global provider in the fashion sector, he said.
The textile and garment manufacturing projects in Qantara West Industrial Zone, affiliated with SCZONE, have reached 12 projects, forming an integrated industrial complex that includes the design, spinning, production, printing, and dyeing of garments and textiles, in addition to a luggage manufacturing project.
The export rate of these projects ranges between 90% and 100% of total production, positioning Qantara West Industrial Zone as a global industrial hub capable of meeting the needs of various regional and international markets in this sector.
