Suz Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) chairman Waleed Gamal Eddin has been in meetings with representatives of big-name Japanese industrial firms.

One of the meetings was with the Japanese company AGC Group Inc., which is involved in glass-making, electronics, chemicals and ceramics. AGC is a huge exporter.
Gamal Eddin said: “We discussed the possibility of setting up AGC operations in the SCZone.”
“We also reviewed the advantages and incentives the zone offers as the ports are integrated with industrial zones for easing the movement of goods between facilities,” Gamal Eddin added.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of exporting company products to Europe, which is easily accessible from Mediterranean ports, which Asia is accessible from Red Sea ports via the Suez Canal.
For his part, AGC general manager Hiroaki Sano spoke of his intention to study SCZone investment opportunities with a view to supply chains for industries requiring AGC final products.
