Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Walid Gamal el Din reiterated on Thursday the economic zone’s keenness on strengthening cooperation with global shipping giant AP Moller Maersk.
Gamal el Din gave the remarks during a high-level meeting with company executives led by Camilla Jain, Vice President of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs. The meeting focused on exploring new avenues for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including logistics and green fuel.
Gamal el Din emphasized SCZONE’s openness to global partnerships, particularly in logistics, green fuel production and bunkering operations.
He highlighted Maersk’s global leadership in green shipping and its efforts to reduce carbon emissions, saying the SCZONE celebrated in 2023 the first bunkering of Maersk’s green-fuel-powered vessel at East Port Said.
He noted that cooperation with Maersk is not limited to maritime and shipping activities but extended to reach logistics areas and green fuel production, underscoring the competitive advantages offered by the integration of SCZONE’s ports, industrial zones and strategic location.
Maersk officials welcomed the partnership with the economic zone, expressing appreciation for the professionalism and transparency of the SCZONE’s management.
Despite current global trade challenges, they said cooperation with the zone has helped the company overcome obstacles and develop its operations.
