SCZone, Belgian companies probe co-operation on green energy

The Chairman of the General Authority of Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), Walid Gamal El-Din met with a delegation of major Belgian companies interested in green energy projects in SCZone, whether green hydrogen production, green ammonia or the nutritious and complementary industries.

The meeting, which was attended by officials from the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and the New and Renewable Energy Authority, comes within the framework of the rapid steps taken by the Suez Canal Economic Zone to become a regional and international hub in green energy production.

The meeting included a presentation by the Chairman of the authority on SCZone strategy for the period “2022-2025”, the industries targeted for localisation and the competitive advantages and financial incentives offered by SCZone to investors.

The meeting also dealt with a detailed explanation of the efforts to localise the green fuel industry in co-operation with major international partners from around the world to maximise the benefit from the economic zone’s resources and contribute to the transformation towards green fuel globally.

Chairman for the General Authority of Suez Canal Economic Zone also reviewed efforts to upgrade the region’s ports and integrate with the industrial zones, especially the implementation of fuel tank berths.

For their part, the Belgian delegation praised the achievements of the Suez Canal Economic Zone in this field, noting that the green fuel is an pressing global need in light of climate change and the efforts of all countries towards reducing carbon emissions.

The delegation also made several technical inquiries related to renewable energy sources that are necessary for the production process and the role of the Suez Canal Economic Zone in facilitating the access of the final product to different markets.
