Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie underscored the organization’s role in supporting sustainable development during a visit to several sites in Suez, where he met Governor Hani Rashad to discuss avenues of cooperation and reviewed healthcare services at authority-run facilities.

Rabie highlighted the authority’s commitment to strengthening its community role in the Canal region and Sinai, focusing on localizing maritime industries, creating jobs for youth, and expanding contributions in healthcare. Governor Rashad described the authority as a key partner in advancing development across Canal cities, expressing hope for deeper collaboration to meet citizens’ needs and boost industrial growth and tourism.

Following the meeting, Rabie toured the Suez Shipyard to inspect ongoing repair and maintenance work, including overhauls on tugboats and offshore units. He reviewed upgrades to floating docks and mechanical slipways, noting the company’s efforts to modernize equipment and pursue partnerships with private firms in specialized projects such as renewable energy. Rabie also encouraged engineers and workers to continue improving efficiency and conserving energy.

The inspection extended to Port Tewfik, where construction is underway to deepen and expand berths to nine meters over 325 meters in length. The project, scheduled for completion in July, aims to accommodate new tugboats being built under the authority’s fleet modernization strategy.

Rabie also visited medical centers, including the Suez Canal Authority Hospital and newly opened outpatient clinics, checking emergency, dialysis, intensive care, and surgical units. He engaged with patients to gather feedback on services, reaffirming the authority’s commitment to enhancing healthcare provision.
