CAIRO – “Sanad el Kheir”initiative, launched by the Ministry of Local Development to provide food commodities at affordable prices, achieved sales of EGP 339 million so far, Local Development Minister Hisham Amna said.
The initiative aims at supporting low and medium income citizens and reaching out to the biggest segments of citizens in the most-in-need villages, the minister noted in a statement.
The initiative covered 16 governorates in its 67th week, Amna said.
The initiative was launched by the ministry in March at the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to rally efforts of the State to support the citizens in the most densely populated and needy districts to provide them with food commodities at reduced prices and high quality, especially in light of the increase of commodity prices due to the current global crisis, he said.
The initiative is carried out by the ministry in cooperation with NGOs and private wholesale traders.
