As the Egyptian Military Academy prepares to graduate its 2024 batch of cadets, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Monday a group of students who completed their studies.
Defence Minister General Abdul-Majid Saqr, Chief-of-Staff General Ahmed Khalifa, and other senior military commanders were present at the meeting.
During the open discussion, President Sisi replied to students’ queries on various domestic and international issues, emphasising that safeguarding national security is a continuous, unwavering effort, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
He highlighted that the unity and cohesiveness of the Egyptian people remain the cornerstone of the country’s strategic defence and the key to maintaining national security and stability.
Underscoring that the past decade has proven the Egyptian people’s resilience and cohesiveness in the face of the difficult regional circumstances, President Sisi said the public stood firm against attempts to undermine stability and disrupt constitutional institutions, thereby preventing the negative consequences of unrest.
On regional matters, President Sisi remarked that developments over the past decades have brought the region to a critical crossroads, requiring caution, patience, and thorough study before making decisions, Spokesman Fahmy said.
The president reaffirmed Egypt’s constant policy of balance, moderation, and proactive crisis resolution, aimed at avoiding real risks that could threaten the entire security of the region.
He added that nations in the region have their own interests, which should not conflict with one another, stressing the importance of conducting strategic dialogue inter se with the aim of promoting development and maximising the potential of their populations.
In response to various student queries, President Sisi highlighted the government’s decade-long reform process, aimed at preparing future generations to take up responsibility across all sectors.
President Sisi also stressed the importance of confronting the misuse of privileges granted by the state to certain segments, such as vehicles designated for people with disabilities.
Furthermore, President Sisi emphasised the importance of promoting societal interest of studying computer science and information technology for developing a skilled Egyptian workforce in these vital fields, as well as creating new, unconventional, and more profitable job opportunities for the country’s youth, the spokesman said.
