Governor of South Sinai Khaled Fouda received Ambassador of Russia to Egypt Georgy Borisenko in the Governor’s office in Sharm El-Sheikh, in the presence of the Deputy Governor Enas Samir. The meeting tackled the preparations for receiving Russian flights coming from Moscow to Sharm El-Sheikh.
The ambassador announced the arrival of the first flight , with a plane carrying 522 Russian tourists for the first time, after a hiatus of 6 years, since 2015. He added that this is the culmination of the efforts of the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The ambassador expressed his great happiness for the return of Russian flights to Sharm El-Sheikh, given the Russian people’s passion for the charming city of Sharm El-Sheikh to enjoy its warm weather.
He confirmed that this is the beginning of the launch of Russian tourism to Sharm El-Sheikh, stressing that dozens of flights from 45 Russian cities to Sharm El-Sheikh will be conducted after the end of the Corona crisis.
The ambassador stressed that there are many specialised committees that have verified all security and professional procedures, praising the efforts made by the South Sinai Governorate in this regard.
For his part, the Governor of South Sinai expressed his great happiness for the restoration of Russian flights to Sharm El-Sheikh, stressing the close and strong relations between the Egyptian and Russian peoples.
During the meeting, the governor reviewed that there is a great development that the Russian tourist will experience after six years, including the development of roads, the establishment of King Salman International University, and the Sharm El-Sheikh Museum, pointing out that Sharm El-Sheikh is completely ready to receive Russian tourists.
Fouda stressed that all tourism sector workers are vaccinated with the Corona virus vaccine, including (bazaars, commercial market, scaffolding, hotels and taxi drivers).
At the end of the meeting, the governor honoured the Russian ambassador by giving him the governorate shield and some souvenirs.
