The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Cairo hosted a ‘press salon’ with local media to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Egypt.
Ambassador Kim Yong-hyon stated that the two countries have built a strong partnership based on mutual respect, with ties expanding across many fields over the past three decades. He outlined the Korean government’s vision of pragmatic diplomacy under President Lee Jae Myung, adding that it will guide future bilateral co-operation.
Looking ahead, the South Korean diplomat introduced the Embassy’s “R.I.S.E.-EKO” vision for the next phase of relations, which stands for Renewal, Innovation, Synergy, and Excellence. The plan focuses on renewing commitment, fostering innovation in technology and sustainability, strengthening cultural and business exchanges, and pursuing excellence in joint achievements.
To celebrate the milestone, the Embassy announced a series of events, including:
- A special exhibition at the Museum of Islamic Arts (11–28 September)
- A gala concert with soprano Sumi Jo and the Cairo Symphony Orchestra at the Cairo Opera House (12 September)
- A high-level economic conference on Korea-Egypt partnership at the Nile Ritz-Carlton (30 September)
- A commemorative ceremony and National Day reception (1 October)
- Korea Week showcasing Korean music and Taekwondo (1–9 October)
Ambassador Kim stressed that these events symbolise more than a celebration, reflecting the deep friendship and shared aspirations of both peoples. He invited Egyptians to take part in the commemoration and reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to serving as a bridge for stronger future co-operation.
