CAIRO – The funeral of veteran Egyptian journalist Yasser Rizq was held on Thursday at the Mushir Tatawi Mosque in the Fifth Settlement.
Egyptian Culture Minister Inas Abdel Dayem attended the funeral alongside Karam Gabr, Head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation.
Also, Chairman of the National Press Authority Abdel-Sadiq Shorbagy attended the funeral along with Middle East News Agency Board Chairman and Editor in Chief Ali Hassan, Al Ahram Board Chairman Abdel Mohsen Salama, Al Akhbar Editor in Chief Khaled Miri, Mosawer Editor in Chief Ahmed Ayoub and other key figures.
Rizq passed away Wednesday at the age of 57.
Rizq, a former editor-in-chief of Akhbar Al Youm, died of a heart attack in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Rizq began his career journalistic work at the state-owned Al-Akhbar newspaper, since he was a first-year student at the Faculty of Mass Communication from which he graduated in 1986.
