Cairo’s renovated Sphinx International Airport (SPX) received on Tuesday its first flight from Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport, after the completion of its expansion project to increase its annual capacity to 1.2 million passengers.
Air Cairo, which is one of the companies affiliated with the Civil Aviation Ministry, arrived from Sharm el-Sheikh, with 70 tourists on board.
The plane was received by the tradition of spraying water upon its arrival to Sharm el-Sheikh Airport.
It is scheduled that the company will operate 12 domestic flights monthly between SPX and the airports of Sharm el-Sheikh, Luxor and Aswan.
