Cairo- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi praised Wednesday the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and extended greetings of respect and appreciation on the occasion of the anniversary of the 10th of Ramadan victory which corresponds to the October 6 War.

“Today we are celebrating the anniversary of the victory of the 10th of Ramadan. This precious memory reflects the genius of the Egyptian military in retrieving the land and conquering the impossible. On this good and solemn occasion, I extend my greetings of respect and appreciation to the martyrs of duty who have achieved this great victory,” the president said on his social media accounts.

The president also hailed the spirit of determination from the side of the army to preserve the dignity of the homeland, and a permanent and strong willingness to present the highest meanings of loyalty, belonging and sacrifice to win any battle in life.

On October 7, 1973, corresponding to the 10th of Ramadan at 2:00pm (Cairo time), Egyptian and Syrian forces launched coordinated attacks on Israeli forces in the Sinai and the Golan Heights.

“The glorious victory of October was not only a restoration of land, but also a revival of a spirit that was thought of as diminished and blurred. It is the spirit of patriotism and loyalty that was pivotal in this great victory,” the State Information Service (SIS) said.

“After the defeat of June 1967, when those who lost their loyalty came out to violate the reputation of the great army of Egypt and accuse it of corruption, lack of resourcefulness, and letdowns in defending the homeland, the victory of October came to prove that the Egyptian army is the best of all; they are the loyal sons of Egypt who were able to erase defeat and turn it into a glorious victory,” it added.
