ALEXANDRIA, Egypt – The Mediterranean governorate of Alexandria was hit by light and moderate rains Friday morning, with navigation and shipping operations reportedly continuing normally at the port.
Traffic in the streets of the sea port city was not affected and continued normally as well.
Maritime authorities at the harbor were placed on high alert to receive any distress signals from ships.
Alexandria Sewage Company raised the state of alert with more vacuum trucks being deployed across the governorate.
Also, drains were cleaned to avoid any water accumulation.
Alexandria is hit by a spell of stormy weather that runs for 4 days and is characterized by heavy rainfalls and westerly winds.
