Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy, Bassam Rady, has lauded the outstanding performance of Mina Rizk, President of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Executive Council, following the conclusion of the current session.
Ambassador Rady highlighted that the session received widespread global recognition for Rizk’s effective leadership. In an unprecedented achievement for the organisation, the Council concluded its work in just four days, instead of the customary full week.
Delegations regarded this as a clear demonstration of Rizk’s efficiency in managing time, organising sessions, and advancing key agenda items. The session marked Rizk’s first as president since his election in July, making him both the first Egyptian and the youngest individual ever to hold the position.
Rady noted that FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, alongside heads of delegations, commended Rizk’s leadership during their closing remarks. They emphasised that his presidency fostered a cooperative and coordinated environment, enhanced the Council’s workflow and outcomes, and realised significant cost savings by shortening the session.
Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Rady observed that the achievements of Egyptian professionals such as Rizk underscore Egypt’s growing leadership within UN and international forums. He added that this success highlights the capabilities of the country’s young talent to lead high-level international councils, in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s vision of empowering skilled youth to assume key leadership roles on the global stage.
