Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy Bassam Radi on Sunday attended a mass at the San Giovanni Cathedral in Rome, with Pope of Alexandria Tawadros II.
The cathedral hosts the event for the first time in its history in the presence of the Pope of Alexandria.
Ambassador Radi gave a speech on this occasion in which he stressed the national role and deep wisdom of Pope Tawadros II in dealing with various situations and challenges.
He said that the Coptic Church and Al-Azhar are the main pillars upon which the citizenship state is based.
Radi said that freedom of worship, acceptance of the other, love and peace are the principles prevailing among Egyptians, both Muslims and Christians.
Those principles and values, which were established by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, have become firm cornerstones for work and co-operation to build the Egyptian state.
During the event, Ambassador Radi recited holy verses from Surat al-Hujurat, which calls for acquaintance and coexistence among all peoples.
Allah (Glory Be to Him) says in the Holy Quran: “O people, We created you from male and female, and made you into nations and tribes so that you may know each other. Honorable of you in the sight of God is the one who fears you. Indeed, God is All-Knowing, All-Aware.”
