A cooperation protocol for timber supplies were signed between Egyptian ministries of military production and public enterprise and the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI).

The protocol is part of a strategy to secure timber imports.

Military Production Minister Mohamed Morsi, Public Enterprise Minister Hesham Tawfik and AOI Chairman Abdel Moneim el-Terras attended the signing ceremony.

Tawfik said the protocol would eventually lead to the opening of new markets for Egyptian furniture and wood products at home and abroad, which would in turn increase investment in the furniture industry.

The ministry Wood Trading Company has great experience in importing, trading, supplying and manufacturing all types of wood and has strong relations with the largest wood producers in the world.

Morsi, for his part, said this protocol reflects integration between military production ministry and the various industrial entities, expressing the Ministry’s aspiration to cooperate with the Ministry of the Public Business Sector through the Wood Company, which is one of the oldest Egyptian timber imports, supply and manufacture.

El-Tarras said this move was in response to directives from President Abdel Fattah el Sisi to strengthen cooperation between state institutions to ensure the optimal use of national manufacturing capabilities.
