The Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbag has announced the launch of a package of training programmes targeting students willing to establish their own production projects while still studying.
The initiative aims to offer training to up to 10,000 students till the end of September, covering preparing feasibility studies, marketing, financial inclusion, heritage and handmade crafts.
The ministry will offer LE10,000 to LE15,000 for a project to incentivise students to work and feel independent at an early age.
The programmes are part of the ministry’s units project in Egyptian universities, being implemented in 31 public and private universities, including Al Azhar. They also come within the framework of the Productive student initiative launched by the ministry in June aiming to motivate young people to work, produce and invest.
The ministry’s vision for this initiative seeks to refine students’ characters, support their financial and social independence, and to develop the spirit of innovation and creativity among youth, encouraging them to invest in their skills and abilities.
El-Qabbag indicated that her ministry pays due attention to university and institute students, in particular those who, in line with its Equal education opportunities initiative, which mainly aims to back the social and materialistic capabilities of students and raise awareness of social and national issues.
Attending the training and rehabilitation courses is free of charge for all university students of both sexes, she said, adding that the courses offer an opportunity for students to obtain the necessary knowledge and expertise to implement productive projects that generate continuous income, directing students’ thinking and practices towards production and investment.
