The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said the existing Geisum platform for early production in the Gulf of Suez is mainly contributing to further doubling the current net production of Petrogulf oil wells to nearly 20,000 barrels.
Three new wells were dug and placed on the production map consecutively in months of the first half of the current years, added the ministry in a statement on Wednesday.
That came during a meeting of the Higher Committee of Projects in the petroleum sector, led by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla.
The minister is following up on implementation phases of expansion projects of “Midor” oil refinery in Alexandria city, ANOPC diesel production complex project in Assiut and the complex for converting rice straw into wood (WOTECH).
Molla asserted the ongoing petroleum projects are a cornerstone of implementing goals of upping local production to reduce importation burdens.
