Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah El Sisi instructed Thursday promoting efforts meant to enhance work at Egyptian ports at the regional and international levels, in line with international standards to promote Egypt’s global ranking in the logistic and trade domains, as part of the State’s economic development plan, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir, the president was posted on implementation and operation pace of a number of projects carried out by the Transport Ministry, especially as regards the Light Rail Transit (LRT) project for being considered a quantitative leap in the history of the Egyptian transport system – to ease both movement of citizens and goods flow.
All efforts are meant to enhance the country’s strategies to establish developed and sustainable transport systems that would help stimulate economic growth and turn Egypt into a modern regional eco-friendly transport hub, the spokesman said.
The minister of transport also reviewed the latest developments regarding the ongoing upgrade process of Egyptian ports, especially pertaining to the operation and management of Tahya Misr Multipurpose Maritime Terminal in Alexandria Port, as well as growing cooperation with CMA CGM Group; a French shipping and logistics company.
