The international media devoted much space to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s election win.

The British Guardian quoted the president’s speech after the results were announced saying: “The Egyptians have lined up to vote not only to choose their president for the coming period, but to express their rejection of this inhuman war before the entire world.”

Britain’s Financial Times said the president had earned support because of the stability he achieved in recent years in a war-torn, crisis-ridden region.

The American Media Line agency said President Sisi’s victory for a third presidential term comes amidst many challenges, and that this victory would shape Egypt’s future in the coming years.

“The National Elections Authority announced Monday the re-election of President Sisi for another six-year term after his landslide victory in the latest presidential elections in the country, the agency said, adding that National Elections Commission chief Counselor Hazem Badawi commented that this year’s elections witnessed an historic turnout from the Egyptian public.

“President Sisi’s new term faces the challenge of expanding the scope of the war on Gaza,” said The Wall Street Journal.

The New Delhi-based The Hindu said President Sisi had won a new presidential term in elections that took place at a time when Egypt is facing an economic crisis and trying to manage the risks of war on Gaza.

In Islamabad, The Business Recorder mentioned that President Sisi had won 89.6 per cent of the vote after an “unprecedented” 66.8 per cent turnout.

The Swiss website Rio Times said: “His victory with a large majority shows the great amount of support he enjoys despite the economic challenges.”

“Sisi’s term was characterised by stability, and more than 39 million Egyptians voted for Sisi, who led the country for ten years since he ascended to power,” the website said.

Earlier, Ambassador Khalil Ibrahim Al-Thawadi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Arab League delegation to follow up on the Egyptian presidential elections 2024, said there is great Arab and international praise for the success of the presidential elections, the preparations and facilities provided by the Arab Republic of Egypt, and how all relevant agencies in the country dealt with the success of those elections.

Ambassador Al-Thawadi said, in a statement to the Middle East News Agency, “Of course, the number of voters and turnout are measured by specific studies, and that is why we found this large crowd of voters that was praised by the media, observers, and those concerned with the election process in all Arab and international countries.”

In light of the great status of Egypt and the importance of the Egyptian presidential elections, the missions of the African Union, the League of Arab States, the Arab Parliament, and the Mediterranean Parliament Assembly expressed their appreciation to Egypt and its keenness on the integrity and transparency of the electoral process and its adoption of judicial supervision as a basic guarantee.Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, pointed out that this volume of diplomatic and foreign participation in following up on the presidential elections reflects Egypt’s keenness for the elections to come out with the highest standards of integrity and transparency.
