Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met in Beijing on Friday with Zheng Xuexuan, Chairman of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC)), along with a number of senior CSCEC officials.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the President’s state visit to China.
“The president reviewed developments in Egypt’s he infrastructure sector over recent years, which witnessed great opportunities for foreign investors to pump more investments into Egypt,” the presidential spokesman said in a statement on Friday, pointing out to the government’s keenness for luring Chinese companies to increase their investments in Egypt for the benefit of both countries.
He voiced Egypt’s deep appreciation for CSCEC’s efforts across various projects in Egypt.
“The meeting also discussed efforts to implement joint projects between the two sides, as well as new co-operation proposals. CSCEC’s has praised Egypt’s booming development in terms of construction and infrastructure,” the spokesman said, asserting the state’s interest in benefiting from Chinese expertise in this field.
He has said CSCEC is keen on continuing co-operation at all levels and to carry out more projects for the best interests of both sides.
Boosting co-operation with CEEC
President Sisi also met with Hailiang Song, Chairman of China Energy Engineering Corp (CEEC), during his state visit to China.
“The president stressed the state’s keenness to increase Chinese investments and to boost co-operation with Chinese companies operating in Egypt, especially of China Energy Engineering Corp, as Cairo values the present co-operation relations with the company and its participation in a number of major projects,” the presidential spokesman said.
The spokesman said President Sisi stressed Egypt’s interest in bolstering co-ordination and co-operation with the Chinese company in a bid to benefit from its expertise and strong potentials.
“Egypt welcomes of the company’s endeavor to expand the scope of its projects in Egypt, especially facilities related to green hydrogen. Moreover, Egypt is keen on localizing industries and technology as well as training local workers,” the presidential spokesman said, citing the creation of new job opportunities in Egypt.
“In this context, the two sides discussed proposals for new projects available for joint cooperation, as well as means to scale up efforts to complete underway joint projects.
For his part, Hailiang Song praised present co-operation between his company and Egypt, describing the North African country as the most promising market in terms of energy and green hydrogen.
CEEC chairman has made it clear that the company “is determined to continue” developing joint co-operation for the best interests of both sides.
