Cairo- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has stressed the importance of examining all studies on land reclamation in Sinai on the bases of all technical, scientific and environmental aspects, especially including water resources in order to boost the economic returns of such projects and help establish associated industries.

The president’s remarks came during his meeting Sunday with the director general of the Armed Forces National Service Projects Organisation, MajorGeneral Moustafa Amin, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said, adding that the meeting was devoted to following up the progress in implementing National Service projects in a number of sectors.

In the remarks, President Sisi placed emphasis on guaranteeing that newly reclaimed lands be duly connected to all services and utilities, making special reference in this connection to electricity feeds. He also stressed that action to implement such projects be integrated with the national project for Sinai development, Spokesman Radi said.

During the meeting, Major-General Amin reviewed a number of projects of the Armed Forces National Service Projects Organisation, especially in land reclamation in Sinai, which aim at increasing agricultural production of various crops.

This comes as part of the Service’s role in supporting sustainable development efforts at the state level as well as
providing citizens with food security needs, in addition to creating new agricultural and development communities.

At another meeting Sunday, President Sisi gave directives for maintaining and strengthening efforts to deepen local industrialisation and localise technology with the aim of providing high-quality products that meet the needs of the domestic market in the first place, bridging the gap between exports and imports, and achieving self-sufficiency in many industry inputs.
