Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s keenness to cooperate with Japan, which is the chair of the Group of Seven, to find solutions and settlements to the current serious international crises, on top of which is the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, the food, energy and financing crises as well as the conflict IN Sudan.
The President’s remarks came during his interview with Asahi newspaper, which is one of the largest Japanese newspapers, on the sidelines of the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to Egypt from April 29 to May 1.
During the interview, the President affirmed the keenness of Egypt and Japan to strengthen cooperation in various fields and praised the strong relations between the two countries and the existing cooperation between them in the field of development.
He also reiterated Egypt’s position regarding the existing crises in the region, pointing out that the Egyptian foreign policy is based on rejecting interference in the affairs of other states, respecting the principle of sovereignty and settling disputes by peaceful means.
He also indicated that Egypt would continue to take a neutral stance regarding the fighting between Russia and Ukraine, adding that it would be important to pursue a peaceful solution there.
Meanwhile, President Sis referred to Egypt’s efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in Sudan and create a peaceful environment for dialogue and the completion of the transitional phase, to spare the Sudanese people the humanitarian risks of the conflict.
